WiFi products ordered without an antenna option will have the standard PC board internal antenna. The internal antenna will provide good short range
performance and is typically used when the WiFi product is for use in the same room as the client device (antenna
orientation generally not needed within 100 feet). Range of up to 400 feet* or more with the
client device can be attained using the PC board internal antenna when the client device is in line of sight (open field) and the internal antenna is
oriented toward the client device.
Greatly improved reception with little or no antenna orientation can be achieved with the use of an external antenna.
Options for WiFi antennas may be ordered by adding the proper suffix (add to cart immediately after the WiFi device). The following options may be
ordered for all WiFi products:
/XI Intermediate WIFI Range with Antenna Option: Range of up to 400 feet* or more with line of sight (open field) and improved
performance when signal needs to penetrate walls. This option also allows the antenna to be oriented for better reception inside the enclosure.
Paper backed adhesive on the back of the antenna is used for mounting. Provided with 3.5 inch micro coax cable.
/XR Extended WIFI Range with Antenna Option: Range of up to 500 feet* or more with line of sight (open field) and greatly improved
performance when signal needs to penetrate walls. Provides much better overall reception with little or no antenna orientation. Provided with
3.5 inch micro coax cable and detachable SMA antenna connector. The antenna is hinged to permit vertical or angled antenna orientation and 360
degree rotation. The range of the /XR antenna option may be increased to a mile or more with the use of a directional WiFi Antenna on your WiFi
server or mobile device.
*typical distance... range and reception can vary greatly depending on the network or mobile device (and the type of the antenna used with the
client device). High performance smartphones and client devices will provide much better results and you may have greater than typical range and
reception when an external antenna is used with the client device.
